SUMMARY
The Public Policy and Organizing Manager (PPOM) will assist the Georgia State Director in the work of increasing public and legislative support for Planned Parenthood Southeast’s mission. The PPOM's duties include protecting access to reproductive health care through assisting with development and implementation of legislative campaigns. The PPOM will engage supporters and volunteers through meaningful training and engagement opportunities, including campaigns built to reduce stigma, and build power to leverage on behalf of the communities we serve by increasing our supporter base and capacity. In addition, the PPOM works with the Georgia State Director and other staff and volunteers to further the educational, political, and electoral goals of Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates including electing legislators who support access to a full range of reproductive health care. The PPOM will directly manage and support the Georgia Field Organizers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Legislative Support
Function as deputy to Georgia State Director during legislative session at state capitol
Attend legislative committee hearings and report detailed findings
Help prepare witnesses and legislators for committee hearings
Development and implementation of plans for Pink Out The Halls, PPSEA’s community lobbying program
Prepares legislative briefings, session reports, and related presentations
Tracks key legislative votes
Direct lobbying of elected officials
Other duties as required
Represents PPSE in the Community
Represent PPSE in coalitions, where requested
Cultivate relationships with new and existing community groups
Identify and cultivate key contacts in targeted communities
External Communication
Draft supporter communications, including information on volunteer opportunities and advocacy alerts on current legislative and policy issues
Develop content for social media in conjunction with the Communications Team
Grassroots Organizing
Assist Georgia State Director and other staff with implementation of statewide organizing plan for recruiting and maintaining supporters, including selected target communities
Develop organizing plan and goals in conjunction with Georgia State Director for recruiting and maintaining activists and volunteers·
Identify tabling, recruiting, and other outreach opportunities
Identify and cultivate key contacts in targeted communities
Oversee Organizing Plan and support the work of the Organizers by adjusting outreach tactics by season and impact
Collaborate with Organizers to mobilize activists for organizing activities including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, days of action, legislative lobbying, letter writing campaigns, house parties, etc.
Data Management
Maintain up-to-date supporter records in all applicable databases
Ensure timely data entry from staff and interns
Train staff and volunteers in database use
Represent organization in data workgroups
Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates (PPSEA) Duties
Identify electoral targets for GOTV and voter education and mobilization
Develop and implement plans for voter registration, GOTV, voter education and mobilization, including creating voter guides and persuasive mailings, organizing phone banks, canvassing, etc.
Provide staff support to Action Fund board
Recruit volunteers for PPSEA activities and campaigns of endorsed candidates
Work with Development Department on Action Fund fundraisers
Administrative Duties
Assist Georgia State Director in drafting grant reports, board reports, and strategic plan updates.
Track time and expenses as required for grant reporting and legal purposes.
Manages Organizers, recruits and manages interns, including creating intern work plans
Coordinate training for Public Policy staff, volunteers and interns with HR and Outreach staff.
Completes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor level degree or higher, or 3-4 years of relevant legislative, advocacy, or political experience
Experience
3 years experience preferred in lobbying, political campaigns, or community organizing
Familiarity with and commitment to the Planned Parenthood mission
Skills
Strong computer skills, including Windows, Google suite, and database management
Experience with VAN/VoterBuilder and EveryAction preferred
Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including writing skills
Ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents
Ability to gracefully manage multiple projects and to meet multiple deadlines
Enthusiasm for the work and a willingness to learn

Long hours at the computer are necessary at times
Capacity to participate in organizing activities such as tabling and canvassing
Car and driver’s license required for in-state travel
Flexibility in work hours as evenings and weekend hours are necessary
