Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) seeks a motivated, experienced, and detailed-oriented Communications Director for his Washington, D.C. office. Responsibilities include working with the Member and Chief of Staff on developing and implementing a communications strategy to advance the Member’s agenda; working closely with the policy and district staff to communicate the Member’s priorities; drafting speeches, talking points, op-eds, and press releases; developing content for and managing implementation of digital media strategy; experience working across multiple digital and social media platforms; pitching media and fielding press inquiries; maintaining relationships with local press; website management; overseeing daily clips; staffing Member for press events; and serving as the Member’s primary spokesperson. This is not an entry level position. A minimum of three years of prior communications experience is required. Spanish language proficiency preferred. California ties a plus.
