The Team 

SAS’ Federal Health practice is passionate about developing analytic solutions that strengthen healthcare, advance scientific knowledge and innovation, support American lives, and ensure program efficacy. We partner with critical government agencies to transform how they use data to glean insights and make better decisions. Our software is used every day to improve the allocation of resources in the event of natural disasters, thwart drug and medical supply chain disruptions, break-up Medicaid and Medicare fraud rings, and improve the treatment of COVID-19. We are looking for mission-driven teammates excited about the opportunity to bring technological innovation and data together to address public health challenges and some of the most pressing health challenges that our society faces. 


The Role 

This role is responsible for managing SAS’ relationship and growth strategy within the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness & Response (ASPR). You’ll partner closely with key CDC, NIH and ASPR clients to maintain, position, strengthen and grow SAS’s position within the agency.. Account Executives are expected to work collaboratively with the broader SAS ecosystem to align resources and set strategies that align with client needs, priorities and complementary SAS capabilities. The result should be the identification of significant new and expansion opportunities for SAS solutions within CDC, NIH and ASPR.  This Account Executive would position SAS to partner with CDC, NIH and ASPR to conduct world class research, prepare and respond to public health threats and disasters, reduce the burden of illness and disability, and protect our communities. 


Core Responsibilities

This role is responsible for the development of the CDC, NIH, ASPR territory account plan and execution, encompassing building consensus and collaboration from internal stakeholders, partners and our clients to increase the use of SAS software and services to provide greater analytic insights to our clients. Specific responsibilities include: 

Account Plan Development & Qualification: Develop client-focused account plan, strategy and vision. Set goals and objectives based on evaluation of territory potential and alignment to SAS initiatives. 

Strategy Execution:

  • Utilize consultative, solutions-selling methodology, strategic concepts, and techniques to grow our presence with CDC, NIH and ASPR.
  • Lead and work collaboratively with internal advisory and consulting resources to execute account strategies.
  • Lead internal strategy to communicate account needs and areas for investment.   

Client Relationship Initiation, Retention & Development:

Establish and grow relationships with key stakeholders at CDC, NIH and ASPR.

Lead client outreach and travel to customer sites (as appropriate).

Lead client calls and presentations focused on identifying client goals and objectives

Prepare and deliver presentations to senior-level executives.

Develops strategic government partner strategy and support the management of these corporate relationships. 

Market Analysis:

  • Apply analytical strategy to consider SAS’ strengths and competitive landscape to drive win strategy within your accounts.
  • Assist in the assessment of competitors and identifying SAS’ key value propositions against them.
  • Work with proposal writers to refine messaging and value proposition in written content.


Qualifications


Understands the strategic goals, priorities, and budgetary constraints of assigned accounts and how they align to SAS/business analytics solutions.

Experience building and managing relationships across federal health agencies.

Knowledge of US Government procurement.

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Public Health or other relevant disciplines. Postgraduate degree preferred.

Ability to think outside of the box / beyond traditional capture strategies to reach goals.

Demonstrated analytical, reasoning, planning and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work with executives and senior leadership

Demonstrated skills in communicating technical information to non-technical and technical customers, as well as an ability to articulate how core technologies can address customer needs

Time-management, organizational, communication and record-keeping skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic selling skills, skills in analyzing and evaluating territory dynamics to develop and implement a sales plan.

Ability to be badged at CDC, NIH, and/or ASPR.

Must be based in the DC, Atlanta or Raleigh/Durham areas (ability to travel up to 25%).

 

Preferred Requirements

Healthcare knowledge and experience (e.g., epidemiologist, government contractor or government employee), preferably CDC, NIH, and/or ASPR.

Knowledge of federal government hardware and/or software acquisition cycles and buying influences.

Knowledge of services partner ecosystem (e.g., consulting companies and cloud vendors).
