Thermo Fisher has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Law Paralegal to contribute to this Mission. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Employment Counsel and will provide day to day support to the Global Employment Law team within the Company's Culture & Counsel Platform. Preference is for the role to be based in the Company's Carlsbad, CA (San Diego area) or Waltham, MA (Boston area) location, but willing to consider remote for experienced candidates. Success in this role will come not only from exceptional paralegal skills but also excellent judgment, attitude, and communication ability.
What will you do?
Collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel to support litigation matters, administrative charges, subpoena responses, and pre-litigation disputes
Support employment law team internal review processes, including reductions in force, non-competes, and termination requests
Develop and manage project trackers, prepare reports for internal stakeholders, and develop and oversee project timelines
Assist with managing and tracking team budgets, outside counsel budgets, accruals, and administrative set up of new matters
How will you get here?
Paralegal Certificate or Bachelors' Degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5+ years of employment law paralegal experience, preferably with a top tier law firm and in house legal department
Demonstrated ability to manage complex strategic projects
Experience coordinating cross-functional projects in a decentralized environment, influencing and collaborating cross-functionally
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
An understanding of FMLA, EEO laws, ADA and other employment-related laws & regulations
Proactive with successful time management skills to perform multiple tasks and manage concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
Ability to establish strong cross-functional relationships at all levels of our organization
Required to be discreet and maintain confidentiality
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and data manipulation
