Congressman Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10) seeks an experienced and creative Communications Director to lead a quick-paced communications operation. This position is based in Washington, D.C. with frequent travel to the district in northern Virginia. This is not an entry level position.

Applicants should be strategic thinkers who are prepared to oversee a communications department that advances the Congressman’s legislative and district priorities. They must also be detail-oriented with high-level writing skills and be prepared to work under tight deadlines with unpredictable hours. Virginia/district ties and campaign experience are a plus.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implement and execute a paid communications plan;
  • Manage and work alongside a Communications Assistant;
  • Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson for the Congressman;
  • Pitch and book national, state, and local press including, but not limited to, cable television, print, radio, podcasts, and live streams;
  • Build relationships with key reporters in Virginia and Washington D.C.;
  • Work with the Legislative and District teams to develop a cohesive message based on events and programming;
  • Oversee and execute digital media, remarks, talking points, and press releases
