Job Description

The Community Engagement and Advocacy Manager will advance the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women through grassroots advocacy, coalition building, and youth leadership development. This role will focus on engaging diverse stakeholders, organizing impactful events, and amplifying community voices in support of social justice. A key responsibility includes overseeing the Young Women’s Cabinet, a leadership program for young women ages 16–24, designed to develop the next generation of advocates committed to equity and systemic change. Overall, the Community Engagement and Advocacy Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering community connections, promoting social justice, and empowering the next generation of advocacy leaders in Southern Minnesota.

Community Engagement

· Engage with diverse community stakeholders to build coalitions and alliances focused on social justice issues, particularly related to eliminating racism and empowering women.

· Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and events aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing support for advocacy campaigns.

· Collaborate with local organizations, government agencies, and community leaders to amplify the YWCA's impact and influence.

· Implement strategies for community outreach and engagement, ensuring inclusivity and diversity in all initiatives.

Young Women's Cabinet Program

Oversee the Young Women's Cabinet program, which serves as a leadership development platform for 20 students aged 16-24.

· Develop curriculum and training modules to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective advocates and leaders.

· Mentor and support program participants in identifying and addressing systemic issues affecting women and marginalized communities.

· Coordinate guest speakers, workshops, and field trips to provide enriching experiences and broaden the students' perspectives.

· Evaluate the program's effectiveness through participant feedback and outcome assessments, adjusting as needed to ensure its success.

Skills

  • Strong background in community engagement and organizing.
  • Strong understanding of public policy and legislative process locally, regionally and statewide
  • Proficient in program development with demonstrated experience in managing projects.
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies and community engagement practices.
  • Strong administrative skills, including organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to utilize social media platforms for advocacy purposes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for educating various audiences.

This position is essential for driving impactful change within the community through effective advocacy efforts.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $27,040.00 - $59,000.00 per year
