As part of the Corporate Affairs team, PayPal’s Consumer Communications team is responsible for sharing the company’s compelling story and educating stakeholder groups including, consumers, media, influencers and analysts on how PayPal products can help them in their daily lives as they manage and move money personally or professionally.
This role is part of the Consumer PR/Communications team and will support communications activities across PayPal’s consumer brands, including PayPal, PayPal Giving Platform, Venmo, and Xoom. The Consumer Comms manager will be charged with managing foundational activities instrumental to the team’s success, including preparation and coordination of communications plans and tactics for product launches and campaigns, as well as supporting integrated brand marketing campaigns. This individual will join a dynamic team that operates in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with other staff on a daily basis, including multiple team members across Communications and the Consumer Business Unit.
Job Description:
Responsibilities to Include:
- Lead the development and execution of strategic consumer PR campaigns and product launches, including content & messaging, third-party research, spokesperson preparation, images, demos, toolkits, recaps and measurement.
- Support integrated brand marketing campaigns across the Consumer Marketing teams.
- Manage Brand Reputation with media and customers across external environment.
- Strong media relations practitioner. Build and maintain relationships with key media and influencers, including journalists and influencers spanning consumer, business, personal finance, philanthropic, and technology verticals.
- Identify media opportunities and influencers that can extend our consumer value proposition story, highlighting specific consumer use cases our products solve for.
- Develop a wide-range of communications materials including messaging, audience-first content, communications plans, blog posts/press releases, reactive statements, presentations, briefing materials and coverage reports.
- Build and maintain relationships with key business partners across the Consumer BU, Consumer & Cause Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and external agencies.
- Support day-to-day media inquiries and briefings.
Job Requirements
- Six+ years public relations/communications experience – strong project management skills desired. 2-4 years of agency experience a plus.
- Strong organizational skills – can manage day-to-day tactics and drive projects to desired end-results within deadlines.
- Strong communications skills, including writing, verbal and editing.
- Background working in the giving, cause, or charity space a plus.
- Background working with product teams.
- Relationships with consumer, business and technology media.
- Ability to help build/deliver communications programs that align with PayPal’s strategic business priorities.
- A deep understanding of digital media best practices, platforms and measurement. Previous experience working with digital media measurement tools at, or for, an established global brand a plus.
- Attention to detail – even in fast-paced environments.
- A team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders – this position will work with multiple departments and functions throughout PayPal.
- Ability to think creatively and generate recommendations for tactical problem solving.

- Bachelor’s degree required.
