Corporate Development Intern - Fundraising Team

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – ability to work in-office when needed)

The Corporate Development Intern supports the Make-A-Wish Georgia Development team by

conducting research, creating company profiles, and developing presentations to support

corporate fundraising strategies. The intern will be trained on the organization and its supporting

systems and must commit to maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, confidentiality,

and personal integrity. The intern will be asked to assist coordinators and managers with

organizing, maintaining, and tracking select corporate campaigns, events, mailings, writing

projects, and Salesforce database records. The intern will gain an understanding of how we

partner with corporations and community organizations, learn to research and develop new

fundraising opportunities, and see how a nonprofit organization like ours manages stewardship

and cultivation initiatives in our communities.

Successful interns love to research, write summaries of analytical learnings, and tend to be

detail-oriented and organized. They will also exhibit strong written and verbal communication

skills and be genuinely curious about things. They must commit to maintaining the highest levels

of professionalism, confidentiality, and personal integrity. Ideal applicants are pursuing a degree

in Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, but all are

Our internship program is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on learning while exposing students to the inner workings of a mission-driven nonprofit. Whether supporting wish experiences, strengthening community partnerships, or advancing operational excellence, interns play an important role in helping us deliver life-changing wishes. Our program emphasizes structured learning, professional mentorship, and meaningful contributions — not administrative busy work.

A Modern Internship Experience

Rather than limiting interns to rigid titles, our program is structured around functional areas. This allows us to align your strengths, academic background, and career interests with real organizational needs. Your internship may fall within one of the following areas:

  • Programs & Wish Experience – Support wish coordination, family engagement, and event logistics
  • Development & Community Engagement – Assist with fundraising initiatives, donor relations, and signature events
  • Marketing & Communications – Contribute to storytelling, social media, branding, and campaign support
  • Human Resources & Talent – Gain exposure to onboarding, culture initiatives, and professional development
  •  Administration – Help optimize processes, data tracking, and organizational workflows

Functional areas may evolve each semester based on organizational priorities. This approach ensures interns gain relevant, resume-building experience while making a tangible impact.

  • Rising undergraduate sophomores through seniors - Students eligible for academic credit.
  • Format: Opportunities may be onsite, hybrid, or remote depending on departmental needs.
  • Compensation: These positions are unpaid. Housing is not provided.

Internship Cycles:

Spring: Early January – Late April 

Summer: Mid-May – Early August

Fall: Late August – Early December

Top-performing interns may also be considered for future volunteer or early-career opportunities when available.
