We are currently seeking a Development Associate, Institutional Giving to support the Associate Director of Institutional Giving by ensuring a high level of internal and external fundraising support with stakeholders and across department teams. This is a fantastic job opportunity for someone who is interested in arts management, cultural institutions, and working in a highly collaborative environment supporting the Folgers’ fundraising and development initiatives.
Duties:
With the support and direction of the Associate Director for Institutional Giving, the Development
Associate, Institutional Giving will be responsible for soliciting and securing funding from a variety of sources, which includes, but is not limited to, foundations, corporations, donor sponsorship, and government agencies. Assists with managing the proposal process, including preparation, submission, and tracking proposals, letters, and reports. Should have the ability to identify funding sources and research potential partners. Creates and maintains foundation, government, and corporate sponsor profiles, database, mailing/donor lists, and reports. Stays current on the Washington, DC business landscape and Folger events and initiatives. Should have flexibility working some evenings and weekends supporting and hosting major Folger events, including Acquisitions Night, the annual Folger Gala, the Renaissance Circles program and dinner, and Member Appreciation Weekend. Must have excellent outreach and communication skills via phone, email, and in-person contact.
Job Requirements:
Ideally, we are looking for someone with one to two years’ of experience in development. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with writing papers and/or proposals preferred. Excellent communication skills working in either a fundraising or marketing environment, skills in Donor Relations and Fundraising. Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills through a variety of electronic communication channels, including by phone and in-person. Great time management and organization skills are a must. Must have the ability to function well independently, with a team, and cross-departmentally. Strong attention to detail and knowledge of the following computer software: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Pandemic response: This position will initially be a remote work schedule and will transition to a hybrid work schedule as determined by the Associate Director of Institutional Giving. The building is currently closed to the public due to construction projects.
All staff, contractors, and visitors working or visiting onsite are required to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine and furnish proof of vaccination (unless they have received a medical or religious exemption). Masks are required in all shared or public spaces onsite until further notice.
