An internship with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting

  

Position Summary: The Development Intern supports the Development team with day-to-day tasks that help advance fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role provides hands-on experience in a nonprofit environment while contributing to meaningful mission-driven work. This is a remote, paid internship available for Summer 2026.

We are currently seeking five (5) interns to join our Development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with event preparation and follow-up.
  • Support donor outreach efforts (emails, mailings, tracking).
  • Help maintain and update donor or event data in systems.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Development team.
  • Participate in team meetings and learning opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree as a Junior or Senior in college, any year in graduate school, or a recent higher education graduate.
  • Open to all majors, with a preference for Business Administration, Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Must have reliable access to a personal laptop and stable internet connection for the duration of the internship.
  • Ability to work 8 weeks, 20 hours/week.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong detail orientation, organizational skills, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple deadlines and ask for help when needed.
  • Desire to learn about nonprofit fundraising and producing large events.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for e-mail, document, and spreadsheet creation/management – specific training will be provided.

The hourly rate for internships is $22.00.  If you are unable to be paid for this internship due to outside funding or other directives from your educational institution – please let your hiring manager know AFTER you have been identified as the final candidate.  

Duration: The internship is anticipated to begin on June 22, 2026, and conclude on August 14, 2026.
