ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
Claretian Associates builds community within the culturally diverse neighborhood of South
Chicago by working with community leaders, residents, and organizations to provide affordable
housing and related services for low- and moderate-income people, build resident-based leadership,
and serve as a catalyst for innovative solutions that improve quality of life.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Community and Safety Programs provides strategic leadership and oversight for
Claretian Associates’ community-based initiatives, including violence prevention, Safe Passage,
youth development, neighborhood network work, and related quality-of-life efforts. Working
closely with the Chief Program Officer, the Director ensures programs are mission-aligned, well-
managed, responsive to community needs, and positioned for measurable impact. This role also
strengthens program data collection, documentation, performance measurement, and reporting,
while helping identify systems or a database that can support both housing-related services and
community-based programs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide leadership and oversight for community and safety programs to ensure alignment with
Claretian Associates’ mission, values, and strategic priorities.
• Supervise program managers and assigned staff through regular meetings, coaching, training,
and performance feedback.
• Support strong program implementation, cross-program coordination, and accountability for
goals, timelines, and deliverables.
• Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Chief Program
Officer and other appropriate staff.
• Oversee the collection of participants, service, referral, attendance, incident, and outcome data
across assigned programs.
• Ensure timely and accurate narrative and statistical reports for internal leadership, funders, and
external stakeholders.

• Strengthen documentation practices and support staff training on data quality, reporting
expectations, and use of program data for decision-making.
• Assist the organization in identifying and implementing a database or case management system
that can support housing-related services and community-based programs.
• Build and maintain relationships with residents, schools, public agencies, institutional partners,
funders, and community stakeholders.
• Represent Claretian Associates in community meetings, coalitions, planning efforts, and
strategic partnerships as appropriate.
• Participate in organizational planning, leadership meetings, and other duties as assigned in
support of organizational goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in community development, public administration, social work, nonprofit
management, criminal justice, education, human services, or a related field required; Master’s
degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit, community-
based, social service, violence prevention, youth development, housing, or related program
leadership.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience, including oversight of
staff, program operations, and budgets.
• Experience with data collection, outcomes measurement, and narrative and statistical reporting.
• Experience with nonprofit databases, case management systems, CRM platforms, HMIS, or
similar data tracking systems preferred.
• Strong writing, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data/reporting systems required.
• Spanish speaking strongly preferred; willingness to work flexible hours, including some
evenings and weekends.
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $62,000 - $68,000, commensurate with experience
