The DNC Director of State Operations will coordinate with multiple departments including Operations, Political, Organizing, Technology and Accounting to create and maintain human resources (HR), budgetary, and operational processes and ensure the DNC is an essential contributor to state infrastructure for upcoming election cycles. The Director of State Operations will build, promote and oversee agile DNC operations-related campaign training and audit and create streamlined operations systems. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.


Responsibilities:

    • Work with the Political, HR, Technology, Accounting, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and other DNC departments to establish and help implement processes to be used throughout the Coordinated Campaign such as recruiting, hiring and onboarding staff, cybersecurity, technology assets needs and distribution, budget, procuring vendors, executing contracts
    • Manage and grow Operations staff to fit the needs of the DNC and Coordinated Campaign
    • Plan and drive the project management of initiatives from start to finish, working across teams in a collaborative manner
    • Create and update DNC trainings and laterally work with the Political and Organizing Team to identify and fill training gaps that are critical to our election objectives;
    • Work with the HR Department and Director of DEI to develop diverse pipelines to source talented operations staff for the coordinated campaign and work with the DEI team to develop and execute DEI training and programming for the Coordinated Campaign
    • Develop and oversee the process for opening and managing field offices and work with the HR Department to ensure and maintain readiness for the DNC to operate in states
    • Coach allies and states on how to access and make best use of DNC resources and services
    • Build and formalize efficient and effective operations systems with an eye to use in future coordinated campaigns
    • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission


Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 2 cycles of general campaign experience and at least 1 cycle of campaign operations experience with previous statewide operations experience strongly preferred
    • A minimum of 7 years work experience
    • Experience working on a number of electoral campaign cycles and/or have issue/advocacy campaign experience;
    • Experience with campaign operations; experience with designing and/or enforcing operational processes on campaigns;
    • Experience training and a demonstrated track record of producing dynamic curriculum and materials;
    • Proven track record building and managing coalitions among diverse stakeholders, reaching consensus and action;
    • Proven ability to write for multiple audiences and translate complex information clearly;
    • Experience and proficiency with budgets and comfort with numbers
    • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills;
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail; and
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.
