Job Description
NEW YORK SOLIDARITY NETWORK
FIELD DIRECTOR
Reports to: CEO | Location: New York City | Classification: Full-Time, Exempt | Salary: $95,000 – $120,000
About New York Solidarity Network
New York Solidarity Network (NYSN) is a 501(c)(4) membership organization committed to advancing commonsense government and standing up for the interests of New York City's Jewish community. At the heart of our work is building a permanent voter contact and field program — one focused on educating, organizing, registering, and turning out Jewish voters across the five boroughs.
Position Overview
We are searching for a relentless, experienced, full-time Field Director to take ownership of building, launching, and scaling an ambitious citywide direct-voter-contact operation. If you are a data-driven, mission-driven field organizer with a track record of recruiting and managing high-performing teams, we want to hear from you! Reporting to the CEO, the Field Director will build, launch, and run our paid door-to-door canvassing operation from the ground up, supported by a volunteer program that you will oversee. You will be in the field regularly — engaging stakeholders, standing up canvass hubs, training and managing organizers and canvassers, and making sure your team hits the goals you set.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build voter contact infrastructure in districts where Jewish voter education, registration, and turnout can make a decisive difference.
• Set ambitious goals and metrics, and craft district-level plans that put the right message in front of the right voters at the right time.
• Recruit, hire, train, and manage teams of paid field organizers and door-to-door and phone canvassers, fostering an accountable, high-energy culture where every team member feels respected and safe.
• Oversee the volunteer program, aligning it with the field plan so that it supplements and feeds the paid operation.
• Build and sustain relationships with allied organizations to coordinate voter contact and extend NYSN's reach in targeted districts, working with our coalition and community relations staff.
• Use voter file and canvassing tools to manage and analyze data (we currently use the L2 Data voter file), tracking data-entry quality and daily contact metrics to sharpen team performance.
• Run regular field check-ins, ride-alongs, and data audits so that every voter interaction is professional, on-message, and consistent with NYSN's values.
• Work with NYSN's membership and communications staff to turn contacted voters into supporters and members.
Qualifications
• At least 4 years of progressively responsible leadership in political and/or community field organizing.
• Hands-on organizing experience in New York City or a comparably complex urban environment.
• Fluency with voter files and demonstrated experience managing voter data systems, such as VAN/VoteBuilder or comparable tools.
• A genuine commitment to NYSN's mission of advocating for New York City's Jewish community, including fighting antisemitism.
• Experience managing and retaining teams spread across multiple locations, and resolving conflict effectively.
• Experience running a field budget with an eye toward cost-per-contact efficiency and smart resource allocation.
• Willingness and ability to work long hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends, as the program demands.
• Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs (a driver's license is a plus).
• Knowledge of New York City elections, government, and political landscape a plus.
• Experience engaging diverse communities a plus.
