Role Overview
The Manager of People Operations is a hands-on, operationally focused role responsible for managing and executing TKH’s core people operations processes. This role supports the full employee lifecycle and plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, strengthening organizational culture, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality employee experience. The Manager of People Operations will partner closely with leadership, managers, and external vendors to implement people systems, policies, and practices that support staff performance and organizational health.
Human Resources & Compliance (35%)
- Serve as primary HR contact for staff and the liaison between staff and PEO partner
- Administer employee benefits and liaise with benefits providers; support annual renewals and recommend improvements
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies; manage required HR reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, consultant contracts, and legal documents
- Coordinate or facilitate trainings on workplace conduct, conflict mediation, de-escalation, and related topics
- Support policy implementation and updates in partnership with leadership
Hiring, Recruiting, Onboarding & Offboarding (25%)
- Partner with hiring managers to draft, post, and update job descriptions
- Coordinate and manage onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accuracy and timely documentation
- Maintain candidate pipelines and new hire records within HR systems
- Support recruitment logistics and continuously improve hiring and retention workflows
- Own day-to-day onboarding and offboarding tasks to ensure a smooth employee experience
Performance Management & Professional Development (25%)
- Support performance management processes, including review cycles and documentation
- Track and report on staff learning, upskilling, and professional development participation
- Assist managers with tools and processes that promote continuous feedback and growth
- Help implement internal training and learning initiatives aligned with organizational needs
Culture, Engagement & Continuous Improvement (15%)
- Administer annual organization-wide staff surveys, support analysis, and follow-up actions
- Coordinate and support staff engagement initiatives, retreats, and internal events
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and values-aligned organizational culture
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in People Operations and HR, ideally within a related field (nonprofit, adult education, or youth development)
- Working knowledge of PEO platforms, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality
- Comfortable managing multiple workflows and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with workplace tools such as Google Workspace and HRIS platforms (experience with tools like Asana, ClickUp, or Salesforce a plus)
- Clear, professional communication and strong organizational skills
