Policy Analyst (Trade)

Summary
The position is located in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President, responsible for the execution of trade agreements of the U.S. including the coordination of all aspects of trade policy within the U.S. government. The incumbent of this position serves as the Director for Industrial Subsidies Policy in the Office of WTO and Multilateral Affairs.
Duties
As a Policy Analyst (Trade) GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Leads U.S. delegations to international trade negotiations and conferences on subsidies related issues in the WTO and other forums. Prepares positions and strategies for consultations and negotiations with foreign governments on major trade issues in assigned area. Assists in these consultations when required, including on WTO dispute settlement matters.
Conducts economic analytical studies and develops reports and recommendations for U.S. policy positions on issues relating to negotiations and administration for assigned area. Chairs or serves on a variety of task forces and committees related to assigned area to analyze specific problems or issues related to assigned unit/office.
Serves as liaison with professionals in the U.S. Trade Representative and other Federal agencies in preparing work for submission to higher level interagency committees such as the National Economic Council. Represents the AUSTR for assigned area at interagency meetings and briefs the AUSTR and Deputies on specific issues.
Assists in the preparation of Congressional testimony, responds to controlled correspondence, briefing materials, summary statements and speeches for the U.S. Trade Representative and the Deputy U.S. Trade Representatives on major trade issues related to assigned unit/office.
Represents the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative at seminars and conferences. Prepares and delivers speeches on U.S. trade policy and negotiations on assigned area. Briefs U.S. private sector and labor advisory groups on trade issues related to assigned area.
