Deloitte's Policy and Government Relations (PGR) group is currently looking to add a senior level Government Relations professional to the state team.
Work you'll do
- Serve as the deputy for Deloitte's State Government Relations team leader.
- Manage state government relations team (5 people) in coordination with Managing Director.
- Primary function of the role is to support Deloitte's state and local government business by providing knowledge and insights on the public policy and politics.
- Develop and implement state government relations strategies, including political engagement, policy impacts and risk analysis, to support Deloitte's consulting business in 48 states and local governments.
- Provide political strategy on gubernatorial and legislative elections and transitions, including political giving advice, risk reviews, best practice workshops, event attendance, etc.
- Advise internal leaders in Deloitte's state government consulting and advisory business and firm leadership on key state and local trending issues and legislation
- Lead the engagement strategy with state leadership associations (i.e., National Governors Association, National Association of State Legislatures, etc.) to promote Deloitte's brand and eminence.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and present to internal and external stakeholders on key policy and political issues related to state and local governments.
- Support lobbyist management activities across states, including the interview and hiring processes.
- Partner with Deloitte Center for Government Insights to develop eminence materials.
Policy and Government Relations Core Functions:
- Protect Deloitte's business interests and expand growth opportunities through advocacy, education, and engagement at the federal and state levels
- Establish Deloitte as a trusted thought leader by promoting the firm's eminence with government stakeholders and policy influencers at the federal and state levels
- Support internal and external clients by monitoring, analyzing, and providing insights into the political, legislative, and public policy landscapes
- Identify and analyze policy trends to help inform business decisions, develop policy positions, and advance the firm's business objectives and initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of professional experience, including experience with leadership roles in state government or state executive associations.
- Track record in roles with significant discretion and independent decision-making responsibilities
- Ability to develop and execute on state government relations strategies
- Deep understanding of the political landscape at the state and federal levels
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong project management skills and ability to work on concurrent projects with limited oversight
- Travel will be required to conferences and some limited internal meetings, approximately 20%.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $131,500 to $285,815.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
