Press Assistant

About the Role: Bob Casey for Senate is seeking an individual to join the Communications team as a Press Assistant. The Press Assistant will be responsible for monitoring media coverage and compiling daily clips, managing media lists, managing calendars, and other administrative duties as assigned. This role will also provide assistance with campaign events and draft communications materials as assigned. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about campaign communications on one of the most competitive Senate races this cycle.

The ideal candidate will be energetic with great attention to detail and superior ability to multitask. Pennsylvania ties and experience working with a campaign or in a political setting are a plus. This position will report to the Communications Director. This is an entry level position.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage media monitoring infrastructure;
  • Work and communicate effectively with other members of the Communications team to achieve departmental goals;
  • Managing press lists and research & track national, state, and local media requests;
  • Manage calendars and provide administrative support to the communications team;
  • Draft some communications materials, including event advisories, press releases, op-eds, statements and more;
  • Draft some internal communications materials, including talking points and memos;
  • Travel in-state to advance select campaign events, as needed;
  • Other responsibilities as detailed.

Qualifications:

  • Up to one year experience in relevant work, including volunteer and intern work (nontraditional but applicable experience welcome);
  • Campaign experience welcome but not required;
  • Prior experience with TVEyes, media monitoring, managing media lists preferred but not required;
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and grammar skills;
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with an interest in learning about political communications;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to set and keep deadlines;
  • Ability to multitask and work in fast paced environment;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Attention to detail and enthusiasm for data-driven processes;
  • Dedication to being a team player and trying new things;
  • Access to cell phone, laptop, a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation.

Logistics:


  • Level: Associate
  • Salary Level: $4500 per month
  • Location: Philadelphia
  • Benefits: Medical, dental vision plan at no premium upon meeting plan eligibility requirements
  • Leave: Paid time off will be available per Campaign policy.
  • Hours: Full time position. This position's schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle, and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.
