About Beautiful Gate Outreach Center:

Formed in the summer of 2000 as an outgrowth of the Bethel AME Church of Wilmington Delaware’s AIDS Task Force Ministry, the Beautiful Gate Outreach Center began its commitment of improving the quality of life of those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Center is located within the office complex of Bethel AME Church at 604 North Walnut Street, Wilmington, DE 19801

Beautiful Gate is known nationally for its ability to create effective programs that meet the needs of the local community which has a disproportionately higher rate of HIV infection. Beautiful Gate continues to find much joy in being able to utilize faith as fuel to deliver quality and compassionate services.​

Our Mission is to eliminate the spread of HIV/AIDS and assist in the continuum of care for all people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Delaware. This will be done by providing information, prevention strategies, and outreach assistance that educates, empowers, and contributes to the eradication of this catastrophic disease of HIV/AIDS.

Our Services

EDUCATIONAL HIV/AIDS AWARENESS PRESENTATIONS

HIV/AIDS education sessions are provided by trained and certified staff and/or volunteers. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each audience (individual, group, youth-seniors, religious-based, male, female, etc.). 

HIV COUNSELING & TESTING

Job Overview

Program Director HIV/AIDS Outreach Center

Location: Wilmington, DE (On location, some remote hybrid available)

  • Ability to commute/relocate: Wilmington, DE 19801 vicinity - Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 annually

Status: Exempt

Position Overview:

The Beautiful Gate Outreach Center (BGOC) seeks a visionary and passionate culture builder and servant leader for its next Program Director. They will work closely with the Board and staff to determine the organization’s next phase of growth, including the business development and programmatic initiatives on which to focus resources; how to strengthen organizational infrastructure, capacity, and culture; how to engage and partner with t; and how to raise and diversify sustainable funds in a continually evolving environment.

The ideal candidate will be energized by and skilled in the development and execution of strategy, raising the public profile of the organization while building relationships with partners and funders, and advancing an organizational culture of excellence. Experience in health policy and community-based health serving diverse communities is preferred and being a public champion for BGOC’s mission is a must.

HIV Prevention Coordinator, Client Services Coordinator, Accountant, Transportation Staff, and Custodial Staff

Job Description:

Reporting to the Chair of the Beautiful Gate Outreach Center Board of Directors, the Program Director will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the community outreach programs and services related to HIV/AIDS education and treatment provided by the non-profit organization. The primary objective of this role is to develop and implement effective strategies to raise awareness, prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, and ensure access to treatment and support services within the community.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Management:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive outreach programs and initiatives aimed at educating the community about HIV/AIDS, prevention strategies, and available treatment options.
  • Create and execute strategic plans to expand the reach and impact of the organization's AIDS outreach programs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify emerging trends, needs, and gaps in HIV/AIDS education and treatment services.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through data collection, analysis, and reporting, and make recommendations for program improvements.
  1. Community Engagement and Partnerships:
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support for the organization's AIDS outreach programs.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for HIV/AIDS issues within the community and at relevant events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Foster partnerships with local schools, colleges, and community centers to deliver educational workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
  1. Staff Supervision and Development:
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of staff and volunteers engaged in AIDS outreach activities.
  • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members, ensuring their continuous growth and adherence to program goals and objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and empowers staff to deliver high-quality services.
  1. Resource Development and Management:
  • Identify and present funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and donations, to sustain and expand the AIDS outreach programs.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring proper allocation and utilization of resources.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to program activities, outcomes, and finances.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and support services.
  • Familiarity with the local community and its specific needs regarding HIV/AIDS education and services.
  • Understanding of community outreach strategies, program development, and evaluation techniques.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and writing abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
  • Organizational and project management abilities.
  • Knowledge of grant management and fundraising principles.





Experience Level:

  • 3- 5 years of experience in program development, implementation, and management, preferably in the field of HIV/AIDS education or related public health initiatives.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising multiple staff.
  • Proven experience in community engagement, partnership building, and advocacy.
  • Experience in staff supervision, team management, and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting to measure program outcomes and impact.

Physical Requirements or Licenses:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
  • A valid State driver’s license is required. Intermittent travel throughout the Delaware 3-county region and beyond may be periodically required as part of this position.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelors in public health, social work, community development, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certification or additional training in HIV/AIDS education, counseling, or program management is a plus.
