Job Description

League School for Autism is an award-winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the autism spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a MANAGER OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE. Annual starting salary range is $75,000 - $85,000.


Basic Function:

Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager of Professional Development and Quality Assurance is responsible for developing and implementing training programs that meet or exceed the industry standards. The Manager is also responsible for the development and upkeep of policy manuals and handbooks.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree in special education or a related field. 
  • MA license for Special Education Administration 
  • Experience in development and implementation of training curricula and experience in policy development in the field of special education. 
  • Ability to manage time and multiple projects within a multidisciplinary setting.  
  • At least 5 years in a non-profit or special education setting. 
  • CPR, First Aid, Safety Care 
  • Valid Driver’s License

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Training and Professional Development
    1. Prepare and execute the New Hire Week checklist, ensuring comprehensive onboarding through the distribution of materials and coordination with staff. 
    2. Lead the design and execution of a comprehensive professional development strategy that clearly distinguishes between ongoing education and targeted training initiatives. 
    3. Develop and maintain an annual professional development calendar that maximizes learning opportunities and addresses the critical needs of all programs.
    4. Encourage collaborative learning by establishing a rotating schedule for shared professional development across residential and day staff.
  1. Staff Training Records Management
    1. Maintain the Universal PD and Training Tracker by keeping staff records up-to-date, including job titles, departments, and employment status. 
    2. Ensure accurate tracking of completion dates for DESE, Safety Care, and CPR trainings, including recertification reminders. 
    3. Distribute the DESE/LMS training list to relevant managers for effective compliance and reporting. 
  1. Professional Development and Training Administration
    1. Update the PD/DESE Training Schedule regularly based on training due dates and themes for the quarter. 
    2. Schedule Safety Care and CPR training sessions in a timely manner. 
    3. Input all scheduled trainings into the Google Calendar, ensuring clarity in audience, facilitator, and event details. 
    4. Coordinate the PD Proposal Request process by collaborating with the strategic PD team for proposal reviews and providing constructive feedback. 
    5. Administer the Facilitator Train the Trainer Modules and oversee the new PD facilitator review sessions. 
  1. Training Curriculum Development & Implementation
    1. Develop and implement evidence-based training curricula and materials for all staff, focusing on curriculum delivery, data collection, assessment, classroom management, and IEP development. 
    2. Create universal templates for organizing training sessions, ensuring consistency in delivery and content across programs. 
    3. Transition existing training programs to meet new universal standards and formats, enhancing accessibility and clarity. 
    4. Conduct competency assessments following training sessions to facilitate effective learning and application of skills. 
  1. Trainer Development
    1. Establish and execute a robust “train-the-trainer” program to enhance training capacities and fidelity within the organization. 
    2. Define clear criteria and expectations for internal trainers to promote excellence. - Develop evaluation tools and protocols to assess trainer competency and adherence to established standards (e.g., fidelity checklists, observation protocols). 
    3. Implement ongoing training programs for trainers that focus on adult learning methodologies, presentation skills, and content mastery. 
  1. Primary Quality Assurance Responsibility
    1. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Committee to assess school-wide performance and outcomes. 
    2. Develop and implement review standards that align with the mission and vision of the League School. 
    3. Regularly review and analyze progress on departmental goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
    4. Assists in the development of handbooks and policy manuals to ensure there is consistency across the school and residence.
  1. Assist in the research and development of policies school-wide.
  2. Develops a plan to train and roll out new policies as they are developed.
  3. Ensures policies are consistent with industry regulations and standards.
    1. Participates in school wide licensing and accreditation.
    2. Maintains and updates systems within the school and residence to ensure best practices.
    3. Conduct annual surveys and analyze data trends.
  1. Student Data Systems 
    1. Participate in the maintenance of the electronic student record by attending development meetings and providing input and developing practices to maintain the fidelity of the records.
    2. Configure and maintain student data sheets, including setting up the Admin Page and defining data collection methods.
    3. Configure summary sheets for data analysis using complex formulas for sorting, averaging, and text joining of imported data.
  1. General Responsibilities
    1. Collaborate with Administrative, Educational, Clinical, Behavioral, and Residential team leaders to develop and update policies and procedures related to program development and student services.
    2. Oversee the development, review, and upkeep of all policy manuals and handbooks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
    3. Develop and implement processes to solicit and incorporate staff feedback on PD interests, needs, and the effectiveness of training sessions.
    4. Contribute to student activities and staff appreciation initiatives, fostering a positive and supportive school culture.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
