Position Summary
The Senior Analyst, Government Affairs & Advocacy plays a key role in advancing APMA’s federal advocacy priorities. This position supports legislative and regulatory strategies, organizes grassroots and political campaigns, coordinates congressional outreach, and contributes to APMA’s annual advocacy conference. The analyst monitors legislative activity, prepares policy documents, and engages with elected officials, regulators, and stakeholders to promote the interests of podiatric medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Federal Policy Research and Analysis
· Conduct comprehensive research on legislative and regulatory issues affecting podiatric medicine.
· Critically analyze proposed legislation and regulations, synthesize complex information, and assess potential impacts on members and the healthcare landscape.
· Draft clear, compelling, and persuasive written materials — including letters, testimony, policy briefs, and advocacy content — tailored to diverse audiences such as policymakers, members, and coalition partners.
Strategic Policy Development
· Facilitate consensus-driven policy development through productive engagement with leadership, members, and component leaders.
· Contribute to the development and advancement of federal health policy priorities in alignment with organizational goals.
Government & Stakeholder Engagement
· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with congressional offices, coalition partners, and other key stakeholders to advance advocacy goals and foster long-term partnerships.
· Represent APMA at Congressional briefings, stakeholder meetings, and other events, ensuring the association’s priorities are effectively communicated.
Grassroots & Political Advocacy
· Demonstrate initiative and organizational skills in designing and executing federal and state grassroots campaigns using digital advocacy tools.
· Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with APMA members to support engagement in advocacy efforts.
· Plan, coordinate, and execute complex advocacy events such as congressional fly-ins and stakeholder briefings, while facilitating positive participant experiences and impactful advocacy outcomes.
· Drive donor engagement and fundraising success by supporting APMAPAC through personalized outreach, cultivation of donor relationships, and active participation in political and fundraising events.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience; JD or master’s degree preferred.
· 3–5 years of experience in government relations or healthcare policy.
· Background working with Congress, campaigns, or provider associations strongly preferred.
· In-depth knowledge of the federal legislative process and healthcare systems.
· Strong writing, research, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Proficient in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
