Leaders We Deserve is a PAC and SuperPAC dedicated to electing the next generation of bold, young, progressive leaders to state legislatures and Congress. We collaborate directly with candidates on their campaign strategy, communication, fundraising, political outreach, and coalition building to help them run the best campaigns humanly possible and maximize their chance of winning. In the final months of their campaigns, we run hard-hitting independent expenditures on their behalf.


Leaders We Deserve was co-founded by David Hogg, Parkland survivor and Gun Safety advocate, along with Kevin Lata, Congressman Maxwell Frost’s Campaign Manager and the 2022 Campaign Manager of the year.


Location: In-person, Washington, DC; LWD office. Preference given to candidates located in the DC Metro Area.


Senior Development Associate Overview:

Leaders We Deserve is seeking a strategic and motivated Senior Development Associate to support and expand the fundraising success of the organization. In this role, you’ll cultivate and expand the Leaders We Deserve donor base, use creative and strategic thinking to creatively problem solve, and constantly search for new ways to maximize donor engagement with Leaders We Deserve.

Senior Development Associate Responsibilities:

  • Data Management
  • Create and maintain meticulous donor records, including contacts, pledges, interactions, event hosts, and more.
  • Donor Relations
  • Staff LWD President, David Hogg, for Fundraising Call Time. At the guidance of the Deputy Development Director and the Development Director, manage the preparation, staffing, and follow up of Fundraising Call Time.
  • Conduct donor prospecting research and outreach to individual donors to ensure continuous growth of the major gifts donorbase.
  • Assist with the creation of proposals, pitch decks, reports and other relevant media to pitch, close, and steward fundraising opportunities.
  • Events & Meetings Support
  • Create event invitations and manage event trackers.
  • Conduct outreach to major donors to build for fundraising events.
  • Write briefing memos for LWD President, David Hogg, for Development related events and meetings.
  • Staff select events, meetings, and fundraising trips at the discretion of the Development Director.
  • Work as a team with the Development Director and the Deputy Development Director to hit fundraising goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Development Director.


Senior Development Associate Qualification:

  • Minimum of one year or one cycle of experience in a fundraising role, preferably within a political campaign, nonprofit, or grassroots organization.
  • Proficiency with Actblue and Google Workspace required.
  • Preference given to candidates with proficiency in Numero, NGP, Canva, data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and clear ability to professionally communicate with major donors and high profile supporters, both in writing and socially.
  • Ability to receive direction and take constructive criticism in stride.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A fast learner with an eagerness to grow in your understanding of political fundraising, LWD’s fundraising program as a whole, and the role you play in its success.


Senior Development Associate Compensation

  • Salary: $70,000 annually

The Senior Development Associate is a full-time, exempt position with an indefinite term that reports directly to the Development Director.
