Sr. Government Relations Specialist

Pitta Bishop & Del Giorno LLC has built a reputation for effective, client – centered advocacy before all New York State and New York City government agencies and regulators. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team in NYC/Albany as a Senior Government Relations Specialist to work with team members to develop the right lobbying approach that complements our comprehensive strategic campaigns for our clients, and to manage budget and legislative lobbying for a diverse portfolio of clients.

This is a hybrid position between NYC and Albany.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

·       Develop and execute government relations strategies for a diverse portfolio of clients

·       Direct lobbying of elected officials and staff to further our clients’ legislative and budgetary priorities

·       Lead high-level strategic conversations with clients

·       Connect with coalition of stakeholders and decision makers on all levels of New York City and State government, including Community Boards, civic and community groups

·       Draft legislation, testimony and memos

·       Attend political fundraisers, town halls, and other government affairs networking events

·       Assist in facilitating on the ground meetings, planning as necessary

·       Other responsibilities as needed and assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·       Strong organizational and time management skills in order to service a large client portfolio and meet critical deadlines

·       Possess an in-depth knowledge of NYC & NYS government and the legislative process

·       Ability to interact positively with clients, elected and appointed government officials and staff

·       Collaborative work ethic

·       Strong written and verbal advocacy, communication, and analytical skills

·       Cultural competency and interest in labor, health care, not for profits and social justice issues

·       Business development is not a required skill, but is a factor in bonus compensation

Qualifications, Training and Experience:

·       Ability to travel to NYC / Albany

·       Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience working with the city & state legislative and budget process

·       Bachelor’s degree

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
