Job Description
The Office of State Senator Bob Hall is hiring for a Senior Policy Specialist/Policy Specialist Position
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & EXPECTATIONS:
- Conduct policy research, develop legislation, and usher bills through the legislative process;
- Work with the Legislative Director, Chief of Staff and/or Senator to formulate, track, advance, and help pass the Senator's legislative priorities;
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with legislative staff, state and local agencies, and community stakeholders;
- Prepare briefings and memos for the Senator and senior staff on legislative issues;
- Staff the Senator on assigned committees and floor debates;
- Staff Senator in meetings with community stakeholders, and local and state agencies;
- Prepare bill books and talking points for the Senator;
- Analyze proposed legislation and develop vote recommendations;
- Meet with constituents, legislative stakeholders and other legislative staff members;
- Monitor and report floor activity and activity in assigned committees;
- Must be able to work extended hours;
- Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work independently and as part of a team; and
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff.
Qualifications
- Prior Senate legislative experience is required for a Senior Policy Specialist Position
- Knowledge of legislative process and procedure strongly preferred
Salary Range:
Senior Policy Analyst Position: $60,000-$84,000
Policy Analyst Position: $50,000-$60,000
