Staff Assistant — Rep. Jefferson Shreve (IN-06)
Location: Washington, D.C. Office
Congressman Jefferson Shreve seeks a highly motivated, organized, and personable Staff Assistant to join his Washington, D.C. team. The Staff Assistant plays a key role in the daily operations of the office, serving as the first point of contact for constituents, visitors, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the front-desk representative of the office: greet visitors, answer calls, and assist with inquiries.
- Manage the office phone and voicemail systems, ensuring calls and messages reach the right staff.
- Coordinate and welcome visitors for meetings and tours of the U.S. Capitol.
- Support the scheduling and administrative needs of the operations team.
- Track and log constituent opinions, mail, and requests.
- Maintain the front office, literature, and supplies to ensure a professional environment.
- Drive the Congressman.
- Assist with other administrative and legislative support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable using common office software and equipment.
- Willingness to work occasional extended hours.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Indiana ties preferred but not required.
