Job Description
The Republican National Committee is seeking a Deputy Press Secretary to join our dynamic Press operation. The Deputy Press Secretary will work closely with the National Press Secretary to help guide and manage the RNC press operation—shaping messaging, driving media strategy, and supporting Republican victories nationwide. This role requires a strong communicator with proven political instincts, excellent judgment, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in leading day-to-day press team operations and media engagement strategy
- Draft and edit press releases, talking points, statements, and op-eds
- Coordinate rapid response efforts and provide real-time support during breaking news cycles
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with national and regional media
- Collaborate across departments within the RNC to align messaging and drive communications objectives
- Oversee press assistants and help manage workflow within the press shop
- Provide strategic input and execution support for events, surrogates, and media briefings
Qualifications:
- Strong writing, editing, and strategic messaging skills
- Deep familiarity with the political media environment and conservative movement
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Experience managing junior staff or interns preferred
- Sound political judgment and a team-first mentality
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Republican Party
Desirable Experience:
- 2–4 years of experience in political communications, preferably on Capitol Hill, a campaign, committee, or advocacy organization
