Summary

The Communications and Marketing summer intern will assist the editorial and design team in their work, including email marketing campaigns, social media, graphic design, and strategizing how best to reach the House community.


Duties

Job Summary:


The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 700 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.


This paid internship* is located in the CAO’s Communications and Marketing Department. The Customer Experience Center communicates, markets, brands, and delivers customer service to the House community. Communications and Marketing works directly with key customer-facing business units and stakeholders to provide communications support for all CAO services provided to House offices, including the development and execution of communications plans and marketing materials.


The Communications and Marketing summer intern will assist the editorial and design team in their work, including email marketing campaigns, social media, graphic design, and strategizing how best to reach the House community. The Communications and Marketing intern will learn what it’s like to work with a dynamic, modern, fast-moving marketing department.


* paid at an annual rate of $35,677 not to exceed 120 days


** The CAO standard business hours are 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship that will require onsite attendance in Washington, D.C.


Primary Duties/Responsibilities:


Preference is given to recent college graduates or those soon-to-graduate who have demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, or advertising, including any of the following:


· Writes social media copy


· Proposes and executes new social media campaigns (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and vertical video ideas


· Innovates how best to use social media campaigns to reach the House community and highlight the wide-reaching work of the CAO


· Helps move email content through the approval process


· Assists in the development of email marketing campaigns


· Helps compile digital analytics reports to assess opportunities to improve social engagement and email marketing outreach
