About Houston (Spring)


ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team


The Senior Communications Advisor leads the executive communications functions for the company. This role works with the Financial and Executive Communications team to identify strategic speaking engagements for the company’s C-Suite executives. Responsibilities include overseeing the company’s public speaking opportunity evaluation process (PSOE), maintaining the company’s speech calendars, and coordinating logistics, briefing materials, and talking points for C-Suite executives.


As an experienced professional who is passionate about the industry and is dedicated to the advancement of ExxonMobil’s brand, this leader works in close partnership with the Corporate Public & Government Affairs team to ensure our senior executives are engaged in important public discussions about our company, the industry, and our evolving role energy transition.


  • The position is based in Spring, TX.

What you will do


  • Oversee the development and execution of the company’s C-Suite executive speaking program
  • Lead the Public Speaking Opportunity Evaluation (PSOE) process to manage public speaking engagements for senior leaders around the world
  • Maintain the company’s speech calendars to ensure awareness of global speaking engagements each year
  • Oversee logistics for all executive speaking engagements, including planning, preparation, participant bios, topics, briefing materials, talking points, speech development and feedback

About you


The Senior Communications Advisor will be a highly organized, meticulous planner with a passion for teamwork and collaboration. This role will require close coordination with other areas of the company to ensure messaging stays current, facts are always verified, and topics are timely. This person will also need the confidence to work directly with C-Suite executives, keep meetings efficient, and manage multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment.


Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum (in journalism, communications, public relations, political science, English, literature, or related area preferred); advanced degree in policy-related, or global discipline also advantageous
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience, including integrated communications, media relations, journalism, writing, or related areas
  • A demonstrated track record of achievement in external communications
  • Strong writing skills and experience developing speeches, executive letters, briefing packets, blog posts, and other written materials
  • Team-oriented management of each communications projects
  • Event planning, research and organizational skills, record keeping
  • Expertise in AP style
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to write quickly and under pressure
  • Strong analytical, verbal communication
  • Ability to quickly understand, assimilate, and communicate complex issues
  • Familiarity and interest in issues related to energy, economics, the environment, corporate citizenship, and government policy
  • Strong project-management skills with an ability to multi-task and remain flexible when priorities change; public policy experience is advantageous
  • A positive, proactive team-oriented attitude, culturally sensitive and ideally familiar with the working environment of a large, international organization
  • Understanding and respect for international protocols, and cultural differences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Meticulous attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications/ Experience


  • Demonstrated 15+ years of professional experience in public relations, employee communications, content creation or public affairs
