Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) seeks an experienced legislative staffer to join the policy team to handle Congressman Hoyer's work on the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education of the House Appropriations Committee. Qualified candidates will have experience working on health care policy. Strong candidates will be detailed-oriented self-starters with a working knowledge of the legislative and appropriations process, as well as familiarity with major health legislation including Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) implementation. 

This is not an entry level position. Day to day responsibilities include staffing the Congressman for meetings, committee hearings and markups, as well as drafting memos, and providing vote recommendations. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) Chair and Members in tacking and identifying implementation of the IRA. Occasional travel to the district will be required, and Maryland-ties are welcomed.
