Summary

The position is located in the Bureau of Administration, Systematic Review Program Division (A/GIS/IPS/SRP/CR/CDP/AO/RRT) in the U.S. Department of State (DOS) and is responsible in performing the final authoritative review of official records of Department of State to determine whether they may be released to the public and declassified if currently classified.

Responsibilities

Provides administrative assistance and makes final decision as to whether sensitive information may be released to the public, and determines whether information currently classified may be declassified for public release.

Represents Department in discussions at high-level interagency meetings convened to resolve significant issues typically involving information subject to declassification and release.

Develops guidelines on classification/declassification policy issues and determinations related to the specific areas of information for which the position is responsible.

Serves as geographical or functional expert on past and present foreign policies in area of specialization.

Provides policy advice and guidance to management in such representative areas as treaties, other agreements, and business practices.
