AN OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Public Relations and Social Media Specialist to join our thriving Public Affairs and Communications team at Hallmark. The Public Relations and Social Media Specialist supports the public relations and social media team by providing planning and tactical support on key programs, campaigns, and other projects as part of Hallmark’s Corporate Reputation practice. The individual has a strong technical knowledge about public relations and social media tools, channels and practices and effective project management skills to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines at any given time. The individual is also a resource for product teams, marketing partners or business unit leaders to help create and support programs and plans that protect and enhance Hallmark’s corporate reputation, generate product awareness, inspire consumer engagement, drive traffic to retail stores, and help sell more product. The Specialist must be poised, have strong self-awareness, interpersonal relationship management skills, and the ability to quickly absorb and retain direction.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Provide counsel and project support for our PR and Social Media team members – this person provides a point of view on the best tools and approaches in the PR and social space and the reputation implications of using them. They also focus on developing website content for targeted areas, i.e. newsroom.

Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive public relations/social media programs that introduce new Hallmark products to the marketplace, drive traffic to retail stores and inspire engagement among targeted consumer audiences. Research and recommend PR and social tactics, implement measurement practices and monitor and report on program analytics.

Lead Hallmark’s employee advocacy program – manage Hallmark’s program: recruit and retain employees in the program, direct communication with ambassadors across the company within the program, generate and load content, serve as the subject matter expert on the advocacy program app and platform.

Support the growth of robust social communities within Hallmark’s branded social media platforms – the individual will moderate, post, engage and respond to consumers on one or more social media platforms. Ensure actions are in alignment with platform objectives. As needed, provide customer support to respond to consumer questions and manage online feedback. They will also assist with content creation and / or work with creative partners to develop engaging content optimized for social channels. Contribute to the overall schedule of content.

Develop content for media use: Routinely develop press releases and pitches for product or marketing initiatives; focus on developing website content for targeted audiences, i.e. newsroom, etc.; work with partners from across the businesses to collect and disseminate the information needed or not needed by media.

Develop and maintain strong business acumen – cultivate strong connections to the business partners across the organization to acquire current information about strategic direction and priority products so the individual is confident in telling the company story.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:

Bachelor’s degree

3+ years of PR/social management experience, including content and strategy planning

Experience working with the media

Professional social media experience

Experience with writing and orating change communications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume and portfolio will stand out if you have:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, marketing, public relations, social media, advertising, communications or related field

5+ years of PR/social management experience, including content and strategy planning

Experience in being a project manager and working with teams across different divisions

Experience with AP style

Strong communication skills – both written and verbal, a great attitude and team player

Schedule requires extreme flexibility to monitor and respond as needed

Agency experience or experience managing an agency is beneficial

Excellent project management skills

Involvement in one or more industry associations – PRSA, IABC, social media club, etc.
