The Embassy coordinates a network of nine Consulates, five Cultural Institutes, five Italian Trade Agency offices, and two Italian Tourist Board offices. Staff of the the Embassy include representatives from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and from other Italian Ministries and public entities.
Through its Consular section, the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC also provides consular services to Italian and non-Italian citizens living within its jurisdiction.

Duties may include:
- Italian and U.S. media & social media monitoring
- Press releases drafting (in Italian and English) and dissemination
- Drafting of social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin) creatives and posts
- Managing and coordinating a social media content calendar
- Organization of public diplomacy events
- Relations with U.S. and Italian media
- Contributing to the media aspects of Italian high ranking officials visits to the U.S.

Selection criteria
We are seeking committed and dynamic team members, who must meet with the following requirements:
- High school degree or equivalent;
- Legal residence in the United States;
- For non-US citizens: Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”) or VISA-related employment authorization;
- Bilingual proficiency in English and in Italian, in writing and verbally.
Additional requirements may include:
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, as well as to balance and prioritize requests and manage office needs, and handle confidential matters;
- Ability to efficiently organize the work given the time constraints;
- Willingness to participate in an exciting International environment;
- Capacity to work and feel at ease in a diverse team; flexibility and capacity to work under pressure, efficiency and resourcefulness.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Canva, Google Drive, knowledge of scheduling tools and internet applications, as well as database experience.

The Process
Once the deadline for applications has passed, applications are reviewed by an ad hoc Commission. Pending verification that candidates meet the requirements, the Commission will summon eligible candidates for the written and oral examinations.
Eligible candidates will take an interview consisting in: a) a conversation in Italian to verify language fluency and professional attitude, also in the field of communications and public diplomacy. The Commission may also verify candidates' knowledge regarding activities carried out by the Diplomatic network, current affairs and general knowledge; b) a conversation in English to verify language fluency; c) a computer skills practical test.
