Your New Role...

The Director, Public Affairs is responsible for building relationships with state, local, federal, and foreign government officials and monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory issues that may affect the business of the company. Partners with Community Engagement group to build and sustain positive relationships with the communities in which WBD does business. Public speaking, as needed, in front of government agencies, commissions, and legislatures. This role is based within the WBD Worldwide Government Affairs department.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Monitor, analyze, and make recommendations on legislative and regulatory issues at the state, local, and international level that may affect the company. Public speaking to advocate for our legislative and regulatory priorities with government agencies, commissions, and legislatures. Act as lead executive on issues relating to the cities and counties in the United States.
  • Represent the company with local, state and international elected and appointed officials, film commissioners, and other relevant individuals and organizations to develop relationships that advance business interests. Assist with official government visits to the Studio.
  • With VP, Public Affairs, work on production problems with city, county, state and federal agencies in North America for production divisions.
  • Coordinate with contract legislative advocates to advance the company’s agenda.
  • In conjunction with Community Engagement, assist in designing and executing comprehensive community outreach campaigns tailored to support productions’ specific community goals, as needed. These campaigns focus on creating meaningful connections, increasing visibility, and demonstrating the production's commitment to the community. Activations include community screenings, set visits, career readiness panels and philanthropic recommendations.
  • Track current events surrounding government issues of importance to the company.
  • Participate in coalition efforts, trade organizations, legislative and policy work groups, and other collaborative partnerships to leverage opportunities that advance the company’s legislative issues.
  • Develop giving program for the company’s political contributions and coordinate required political reporting for government officials.
  • Where required, work in conjunction with the WB Corporate Responsibility team on projects that align with the company’s legislative priorities.
  • Perform special projects and related duties as required and assigned, including special events at WB involving government officials.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • At least ten years of experience working with government/public affairs issues in the private and/or public sector required
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Must have knowledge of state and local government issues
  • Must be able to work independently & in a team environment
  • Must be able to work & communicate effectively with all levels both within the company and externally
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of diverse populations
  • Must have professional oral & written communication skills and be able to speak in public, including the ability to analyze legislation and recommend, in writing, a course of action for the company
  • Must be able to handle physical demands of general office activities & handle general office equipment

The Legal Bits…

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $126,350.00 - $234,650.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
