About the Role:
The Office of Governor Matt Meyer is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly organized Social Media Manager to help tell Delaware’s story, amplify the Governor’s vision, and connect with residents across platforms. This position will work at the intersection of communications, policy, and public engagement—shaping how Delawareans see, hear, and feel the impact of their government. This is more than just posting updates—this is about public trust, transparent leadership, and building a strong connection between the people of Delaware and the work being done on their behalf.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation & Scheduling: Draft, edit, and publish timely, engaging content across the Governor’s official social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, etc.), including real-time updates, graphics, and short-form videos.
- Narrative & Messaging Alignment: Translate key policy messages and announcements into accessible, impactful content that reflects the voice and values of the Governor and his administration.
- Community Management: Monitor replies, mentions, and direct messages. Flag misinformation, identify trends, and help the team stay responsive to public sentiment.
- Visual & Video Collaboration: Work closely with digital media staff and videographers to script, capture, and produce compelling video and photography content.
- Analytics & Strategy: Track engagement, growth, and sentiment. Utilize data and analytics to inform recommendations that enhance reach, resonance, and effectiveness across platforms.
- Rapid Response: Draft and deploy social messaging in coordination with the Communications Team and relevant agencies during breaking news, events, and emergencies.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 2+ years of experience managing social media accounts in a political, governmental, or high-stakes public-facing environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a proven ability to adapt tone and voice across platforms
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.
- Experience with social scheduling and analytics platforms (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite, Later)
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tight deadlines, and high-volume workflow with discretion and calm.
- A passion for public service and commitment to the people of Delaware.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive digital communications.
- Experience creating short-form video content for platforms like Reels or TikTok (even if not yet used officially).
