Hone Strategies is hiring a Communications Associate to serve as a key member of our team. The Communications Associate plays a critical role in supporting our clients and is responsible for drafting and distributing communications content, such as press releases, talking points, op-eds, tweets, and press clips. In this role, you may start the morning working on a progressive campaigns's policy roll-out, then participate in a brainstorming session for a senior elected official, and end the day by planning the route of a grassroots bus tour. You will participate in communications planning and strategy meetings and assist with media trainings and debate prep. You'll also work closely with campaigns in executing media events, rapid response, and large-scale narrative content like videos and reports. This position will help with routine administrative needs, such as scheduling and invoicing.


Qualifications:

* Prior Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in communications, media relations or journalism, preferably in a campaign, government or advocacy setting (internship experience acceptable).

* Writing Skills: Exceptional writing skills. You'll be writing press releases, talking points, op-eds, blog posts, and other content for a variety of clients in a fast-paced environment.

* PR Skills: Cultivate relationships with reporters; research and pitch local news outlets. Field media inquiries.

* Organizational Skills: The ability to prioritize and effectively manage tasks in a fast-paced setting. We love to work with people who take initiative, stay organized, and thrive in a collaborative environment.

* Conditions: Ability to work overtime with little notice. We go the extra mile to deliver for our clients, even if it means working outside normal office hours to get the job done.
