About the Role & Team
Disneyland Resort is looking for a creative, dynamic communicator to join the External Communications team to help enhance and protect the reputation of the resort. As part of this team, you’ll play a meaningful role in telling compelling stories on a variety of platforms to highlight the resort as an inclusive, great place to work, a tentpole community and business partner, and an environmental steward, among other positive reputational angles.
What You Will Do
As part of the broader Communications & Public Affairs division, you will work closely with the Disney Ambassadors of Disneyland Resort, public relations, corporate social responsibility, external affairs, internal communications, and executive communications – in addition to partnering with other business units across the resort and company. This role with the External Communications/Media Relations team is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, an excellent fit for a highly strategic, tenacious, and hardworking self-starter. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the day-to-day priorities of the External Communications team, including: email newsletter development and distribution; social media content planning, creation, and editing; media list building and pitching; and fact-checking and conducting research.
- Pull back the curtain to showcase our unique jobs, work culture, and cast-exclusive opportunities on owned brand channels such as the Disneyland Cast & Community and Disneyland Ambassador social media platforms, as well as by pitching and placing strategic stories with earned media outlets
- Identify, strategize, and implement strong storytelling opportunities by building and managing relationships with partners across the Communications and Public Affairs division, as well as the entire resort operation and beyond
- Support the Disney Ambassador program by developing engaging social media content (including brainstorming content ideas, filming and editing video and photo assets), and assisting with programming events in the community
- Assist with issues management by developing FAQs, messaging, and media statements and acting as a strategic thought partner
- Support various projects and initiatives by developing copy, press releases, media pitches, fact sheets, communication plans, visual assets, and collateral, as needed
- Help manage incoming media inquiries and media stories, host media on and off property, and act as on-call resort representative as needed
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in a professional communications role/environment
- Outstanding copywriting and editing skills, and the ability to adjust to varying tones, voices, and styles to meet the needs of various platforms and audiences.
- Expert knowledge of AP style with SEO experience
- Excellent project management skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to craft the strategy of a project or initiative alongside partners from different departments
- Willingness to learn and adapt to unique Disney processes and ways of storytelling
- Proven experience as a strategic and creative social media content creator
- The ability to shift storytelling styles to match current digital trends and algorithms.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work in-office in Anaheim four days a week, plus have access to Wi-Fi for occasional remote work
- Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional PR agency experience or experience working with media or in a newsroom
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, videography and/or photography (Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Basic graphic design abilities and experience with Canva, Photoshop, and similar tools
- Passion for Disney culture and desire to contribute to the reputation of the resort
- Website content management skills, including the ability to populate content and images into a WordPress (or similar) website
Education
- Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, or a related field

The hiring range for this position in California is $92,800.00 to $124,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
