The Director of Corporate Communications is responsible for leading the external communications and Corporate Social Responsbility (CSR) efforts for the company in parallel path of setting the agenda of corporate reputation and executive visibility with the VP of Corporate Communications. The Director of Corporate Communications works alongside a team of integrated internal communications teammates, as well as the PR leads for the banners (including Foot Locker, Foot Action, Champs, Eastbay) to ensure the company message is consistent, timely and relevant with a strong through-line to the corporate narrative in the US and Globally. The Director of Corporate Communications is an ambassador and lead communicator and storyteller for the company’s foundation, The Foot Locker Foundation. This individual builds and maintains strong relationships with the media and key stakeholders to drive corporate mission with the goal of advancing the organization’s position as a leader in its industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Drives external corporate media strategy and executive visibility platform for parent brand and bridges themes and narratives to the sibling banner brands as needed.

Oversees and manages CSR mission for the organization and directs giving with the Foundation yearly. Responsible for the creation, development and implementation of campaign initiatives, community events, and corporate narrative to show strength in category and industry, generate positive coverage and help advance the larger business story around Foot Locker Inc.’s family of brands.

Manages day-to-day integrated internal communications efforts with internal communications team to positively position and align all internal news on owned channels using communications tools and best practices to increase integration across departments, divisions and markers globally.

Works in conjunction with other department heads, including those on the executive leadership team, as well as legal, IR, HR, marketing and advertising, brand management and social media.

Develops and nurtures meaningful relationships with all internal stakeholders.

Establishes and develops media relationships to drive corporate business and CSR narrative across media verticals, along with authoring all company materials with team including: press releases, executive speeches, keynotes, messaging documents.

Collaborates with other divisions to develop the key messaging around company CSR and internal and development opportunities, partner marketing and CSR events and initiatives.

Provides high-level PR strategic counsel on issues or concerns, especially during crisis situations.

Partners with legal, HR, brand marketing, integrated marketing, operations and risk management teams during crisis situations.

Works closely with partner organizations to ensure consistency in messaging.

Regularly interacts with upper management, reporters, influencers and own staff

Acts as company spokesperson where applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the public relations and communications field, at a major corporation or marketing and communications agency.

Understands the company's brand missions, aiming to get the word out about the company while highlighting its best attributes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, natural storyteller.

Excellent time management skills.

Familiarity with monitoring services.

Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Fluency with social media, media databases and analytics tools.

Travel required.
