The Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco (JDC) seeks a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated Development Administrative Coordinator. This is a fast-paced and pivotal position for an organized and dynamic team player who wants to use their skills, innovation and experiences to positively affect change for those who benefit from our programs. JDC advances fairness and equality by providing pro bono legal services to low-income people and educational programs that foster diversity in the legal profession. JDC is a 501(c)(3) organization with a $6.5 million annual budget supporting our core areas of focus: Pro Bono Legal Services, the Homeless Advocacy Project, Immigration and Diversity Educational programs.

About the Job:

The Development Administrative Coordinator plays a key role in the formation of fund development strategies and tactics that are focused on increasing contributions, from individual donors and the corporate and legal communities, for the Justice and Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco (JDC). Working with the Director of Development and Community Engagement, the Development Coordinator will manage the fundraising database, develop research materials for individuals, corporations and law firms, develop and maintain fund development reports for the board and executive staff, assist in fundraising efforts as well as assist with planning and execution of all events related to fund development. Specifically, this position will:

  • Create, produce and maintain detailed, accurate, and chronological print and database records for all donors; includes documenting formal and informal solicitation information in the database and print files
  • Coordinate/Manage project management tool to track and analyze all events and fund development campaigns, create periodic reports and analysis to advise management on progress towards goals on all projects and campaigns
  • Develop stewardship and cultivation plans for donors to ensure proper follow up occurs for all pledges, sponsorships, and cultivation activities
  • Create research briefs on top donors, sponsors, prospects, law firms and corporations to inform stewardship and cultivation plans
  • Process all gifts, including mail-in, phone, and online payments and ensure that gifts are acknowledged within 24 hours
  • Coordinate/Manage gift processing and attendant reports in collaboration with Finance staff
  • Coordinate/Manage events, mailings, and other initiatives associated with individual donors
  • Coordinate annual law firm campaign, including maintaining tracking reports, accurate digital and print files, scheduled mailings, and benefit fulfillment
  • Develop and maintain office systems to ensure proper record keeping and reporting
  • Manage database system to ensure proper recording and accuracy of all donor information, gifts and activities
  • Coordinate with Finance to review and reconcile gift records and ensure proper reporting
  • Coordinate planning and execution of JDC fundraising events, in particular the annual gala, golf tournament and bike-a-thon. Compile various event lists; mail invitations; work collaboratively with the Board, event committees, communications, and other departments to complete event tasks and projects; create nametags, handle phone calls, and assist with on-site duties on the day of the events (e.g. registration, etc.)
  • Coordinate implementation of prospect strategy and donor relations activities, JDC board meetings, and grants administration

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and expertise sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Minimum of three years’ experience and a proven track record of success

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency in donor database systems, including data entry, and running queries and reports
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising components including direct mail, on-line giving, campaigns, event management, and personal solicitation strongly preferred
  • Experience using project management tools and on-line research tools strongly preferred
  • Experience working with a CRM such as Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment and independently prioritize with high attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills (professional and diplomatic interactions)
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in implementing and applying policies appropriately
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to be responsible and accountable to the organization and to colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Foundation Center Research, Grants Station or similar research tools and accessing data and generating reports

  • Commitment to JDC’s mission and programs with knowledge of the issues faced by the underserved in the community who need help with legal issues, homelessness issues, and/or knowledge of diverse communities who need guidance and assistance with education issues
