Congressman Josh Gottheimer seeks an experienced Policy Advisor/Legislative Assistant to manage a domestic policy portfolio, including energy, healthcare, veterans and appropriations. The LA will work closely with the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff to develop and execute a coordinated legislative strategy on behalf of the Member.

About the Role

The Legislative Assistant will partner directly with the Member and Legislative Director to advance the office's policy agenda. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and drafting legislation, engaging with stakeholders, preparing remarks and talking points, providing vote recommendations, staffing meetings, drafting correspondence, and other duties as assigned.

Candidates should bring strong oral and written communication skills, solid organizational abilities, proven relationship- and project-management experience, critical thinking and sound judgment, a creative and solutions-oriented mindset, a growth mindset with openness to feedback, and a willingness to work flexible hours when the legislative schedule demands it.
