Job Description: Program Manager – Youth Leadership Programs

Position Overview:
The Coalition for Anti-Racism and Equity (CARE) is dedicated to transforming education to ensure equity and justice for all students. Our mission is to dismantle systemic racism within the educational system by advocating for racially inclusive curricula, empowering students through civic engagement and leadership training, and increasing diversity among educators and governmental leaders.
Job Overview:
The Program Manager will support state-wide organizing efforts and implement CARE youth programs, Leadership Next Gen Fellowship, Next Gen Activators Fellowship, and CARE Student Club Network, ensuring they are implemented effectively and achieve their goals of empowering high school and college students from underrepresented communities to become civic and community leaders and advocates for social justice and equity.
Key Responsibilities
Programming:
- Collaborate with CARE Program Director and leadership team on the design, implementation, and evaluation of program curricula, schedules, and activities.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and seminars—both virtually and in-person
- Lead outreach, recruitment, and selection process for programs with efforts to attract diverse applicants and an emphasis on equity-deserving groups.
- Coordinate logistics for program events, including speaker engagement, venue booking, and technology support
- Support fellows in the development and execution of capstone projects, community initiatives, and/or advocacy campaigns.
- Develop and sustain a fellowship host network by engaging experienced leaders, elected officials, community partners, and program alumni.
- Assist in the development of CARE Student Clubs Network in school communities where students are interested in working with CARE to establish a club network to support high school student clubs across the state, whose mission and work align with CARE Student Club’s goal.
Organizing:
- Build relationships with grassroots organizations to support statewide efforts regarding anti-racism and equity that reflects the values and mission of CARE.
- Collaborate on cross program initiatives and promote the visibility of CARE’s work ● Assist Program Director in maintaining relationships with partner organizations, funders, guest speakers, and community leaders
- Strengthen CARE’s visibility within state wide coalitions, partnerships, and networks of power building community organizations
Administrative:
- Manage day-to-day schedules, calendars, and documentation to ensure timely and effective program delivery
- Collect and monitor program to track progress and report on participant and host site feedback surveys, program impact, lessons learned, and outcomes
- Prepare quarterly updates for the Program Director and assist in the delivery of final reports for CARE leadership, funders, and community partners
- Assist the Program Director in preparing budgets, managing expenditures, and ensuring financial accountability
This position reports to CARE’s Program Director and may include additional responsibilities as assigned by them and/or the Executive Director within the scope of the role. This is a one-year contract position, with the potential for extension pending further funding. Must be able to pass a background CORI and SORI check.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Strong understanding and commitment to social justice, youth leadership development, anti-racism, civic engagement, and education equity, as well as CARE’s mission and vision. ○ Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with youth in a community organizing, social justice nonprofit and/or educational setting.
- 1-2 years of experience of youth advocacy, legislative advocacy and/or legislative work with elected offices.
- Experience with building curriculum and content development for a youth centering civic engagement and social justice topics.
- Strong facilitation and public speaking skills, with experience leading workshops and group sessions
- Strong organizational, project management skills, communication, and interpersonal skills ○ Proficiency in Google Suites (Doc, Excel, etc.), graphic design platform (Canva, etc.), and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Ability to represent CARE in a professional manner to a wide range of partners, institutions, and community-based organizations.
- Excellent time management, ability to prioritize and multitask, take initiative, support a team, work independently, and be an accountable self-starter.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Available to work some nights and weekends.
Salary: $50,000-$65,000

- This position is predominantly remote, but as a statewide position in Massachusetts, the Program Manager must be able to travel throughout the state as needed.
