SENIOR HEALTH POLICY ANALYST
Chicago, IL


The American Dental Association is dedicated to promoting the public's health through its initiatives in research, education, advocacy, public awareness and the development of standards.

The Senior Health Policy Analyst will lead research projects, supervising other Health Policy Institute research staff, dealing with policy issues facing the oral health community.

They will also represent the ADA Health Policy Institute to external organizations through speaking opportunities, workgroups, meetings, and other engagements.

The Senior Health Policy Analyst is responsible for leading significant HPI research projects, leading ad hoc analysis, both quantitative and qualitative, for both HPI and other ADA departments, and for keeping HPI informed and up-to-date on new oral health policies issues, particularly in Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience or PhD and 2 years of experience.
  • Must have experience in/with research & policy dialogue. This experience includes leading health policy research projects; supervising research staff; and leading policy dialogue with high-level external stakeholders including government agency representatives.
  • Must have the ability to represent HPI in policy forums nationwide. Government stakeholder consultations.
  • Must have excellent diplomatic, oral/written communications, analytical, data, and problem-solving commutations skills.
  • Must have knowledge of the broader health policy landscape in the U.S., specifically related to Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of data sets available for studying Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Excellent analytic and data skills as well as writing for non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient in SAS, Stata, other statistical programs
  • Must be able to travel 6-8 times per year, about 2-3 days per trip to attend conferences, give presentations and meet with key external stakeholders.
