Riverside Overview: Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country’s most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship. Position Overview:
Riverside Research Institute is seeking tech-savvy, mission-focused subject matter experts to join our team of advisors supporting the Defense Innovation Unit. The individual will support a variety of strategic defense engagement activities to guide strategy and execution of prototype projects. The individual will leverage experience supporting national security programs with emphasis on the Pacific Theater and build strong relationships across defense and commercial ecosystems. Understanding of DoD strategic RDT&E priorities and relevant stakeholder communities (eg endusers, policy and acquisition arms) advocating for operational energy resiliency and optimization, logistics and supply chain solutions, and alternative energy and materials solutions are preferred skillsets.
Responsibilities:
  • Advise senior government officials and multidisciplinary teams on DoD missions, programs, and technologies relevant to DIU's operational energy, energy resiliency, supply chain and logistics, and other priorities
  • Serve as DIU's onsite liaison, interfacing with key DoD stakeholders, identifying collaboration opportunities and improving business operations that support Pacific-focused missions
  • Participate in outreach, collaboration, and mentorship, working to strengthen relationships with commercial vendors, industry, academia, other non-traditional vendors, DoD entities, program offices, and recognized technical experts
  • Actively work to identify current and emerging DoD problems and capability gaps that can be solved by commercial solutions, and lead problem curation processes with DoD and mission partners
  • Developfluency of key technology industry focus areas as defined by DIU and its DoD partners
  • Integrate into ongoing business development, marketing, and strategic engagement activities seamlessly
  • Apply knowledge of relevant DoD technology acquisition and R&D programming, as well as commercial best practices, and can inform time-sensitive transition strategies
  • Respond to official requests for information and other tasks from government partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in key intra- and inter-agency meetings
  • Other duties as assigned Required
Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years' relevant experience in project management supporting national security and defense missions, with emphasis on the Indopacific region
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading diverse RDT&E project teams through the entire lifecycle, from planning through budgeting and acquisition, rapid prototyping and demonstration, technology transition and scale
  • Master's degree in technical, scientific, or engineering field; business administration; or public policy
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and interpersonal and client-handling skills
  • Ability to communicate to a broad range of audiences (military endusers, senior military and department officials, congressional officials, industry CEOs, investor community, commercial vendors, media, etc) to facilitate acceptance of vision, guidance, and policy
  • Passion for great DoD-tech community customer experiences and customer service oriented character
  • Ability to work efficiently, both independently and part of a cross-functional team in a matrixed organization
  • Prior military experience that allows the candidate to curate problems and define requirements with military end users is preferred
  • TS clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI
Global Comp: $150,000- $225,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
