Job Summary
The mission of the Office of Development and External Relations (DER) at Harvard Divinity
School is to connect and engage HDS alumni and friends worldwide and to raise philanthropic
support for the School's core academic mission. HDS is seeking a strategic, innovative, and
detail-oriented professional to join the DER team as development systems and data coordinator.
Reporting to the associate director for development strategy and donor relations, this full-time
position is responsible for providing strategic support for development and alumni relations
efforts at HDS through data analysis, reporting, and responsibility for data integrity. Working
closely with colleagues across the DER team, the coordinator will develop and maintain data
and reporting processes that are essential to all DER operations, including major gifts, annual
giving, stewardship, alumni relations, and events.
The coordinator is responsible for the development, support, enhancement, and maintenance of
the data, reporting, and business analysis environment of the Common Alumni Affairs and
Development System (CAADS) using the Advance and QlikView products. The coordinator will
develop an in-depth understanding of the data and its business uses and should seek ways to
optimize the use of data and reporting tools to meet the goals of the DER team.
Position Description
- Produce routine and ad hoc data extracts and reports including weekly KPI report, prospect management and pipeline reports, lists for solicitations and appeals, and mailing lists.
- Conduct regular maintenance of Advance records, assignments, and portfolios.
- Create and maintain documentation and procedures related to the school’s use of donor and alumni data and reporting.
- Generate reports and lists using Advance data for university communications platforms including Salesforce/Marketing Cloud.
- Coordinate training opportunities and maintain Advance access rights for HDS staff and serve as local point of contact for user questions.
- Participate actively in Alumni Affairs & Development (AA&D) working group for licensed product managers and represent the school’s interests in university-wide data projects; perform test and audit scripts as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years related experience with relational data and reporting responsibilities.
- Education beyond high school may count towards experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office suite and Windows.
- Advanced Excel skills and two or more years of database management experience is required.

- Must be an effective problem solver and resourceful.
- Familiarity with development in academic institutions and experience in Harvard University helpful.
- Experience working with the Advance database system, QlikView data applications, and SQL preferred.

This position is based in Cambridge and requires an on-campus presence. A hybrid schedule,
involving some remote work, may be possible after three months, subject to business needs
