Foreign Affairs Officer - Direct Hire Authority

Summary

The position is located in the Office of China Coordination, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (EAP/CHINA). You will track and analyze ongoing democracy, human rights, and labor issues in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).


This serves as public notice for the use of an Agency-specific Direct Hire Authority. Applicants will be forwarded to the selecting official for consideration. We may select from this announcement or any other source to fill one or more vacancies.


Duties

Analyzes issues and recommends policy positions to EAP leadership, department officials and the interagency, as well as policy initiatives regarding ongoing democracy, human rights, and labor issues in the PRC.

Stays abreast of legislative and U.S. foreign policy, and Administration and departmental objectives, and develops and coordinates strategies for the Office of China Coordination to address Global China priorities.

Develops close contacts with civil society and represents China House at roundtables and seminars. Coordinates foreign affairs efforts with other Department/relevant government stakeholders to invigorate and sustain progress on key issues.

Prepares briefing papers, talking points, and edits annual State Department Human Rights Reports for the PRC and Tibet.
