About the Role: The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is seeking an individual to join the Communications team as a Senior Communications Advisor. The Senior Communications advisor will be responsible for an aggressive earned media strategy to define the 2024 GOP Senate candidate, which will include building strong media relationships, generating earned media coverage of key narratives, and organizing press events throughout the Commonwealth. They will also draft and oversee drafting of press materials including remarks, press releases, talking points, and memos.

The ideal candidate is energetic and full of ideas with great attention to detail and ability to multitask. Pennsylvania ties and experience working with a campaign or in a political setting are a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an aggressive earned media strategy to define the 2024 Senate Republican candidate

  • Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson for the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania Build and maintain strong relationships with the state and local press corps

  • Regularly produce press materials, including: releases, advisories, fact sheets, background for reporters, talking points for allies, LTEs and Op-Ed columns, and other items as needed

  • Organize and execute regular press events to generate earned media and bracket against GOP opponents

  • Identify and maintain a network of local surrogates and validators for local and national press interviews

  • Support the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s goal of winning races up and down the ballot

Qualifications (Required):

  • 1-2 cycles of battleground press experience;

  • Experience building constructive relationships with members of the media;

  • Demonstrated track record of planning and executing successful press events;

  • Demonstrated track record of holding opponents accountable in earned media;

  • Strong ability to write clearly and thoughtfully under tight deadlines;

  • Ability to take and implement feedback;

  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and grammar skills;

  • Superior organization and project management skills;

  • Ability to set and keep deadlines;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Attention to detail and enthusiasm for data-driven processes;

  • Dedication to being a team player and trying new things;

  • Access to cell phone, laptop, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

Logistics:

  • Level: Deputy

  • Salary Level: $6,500 per month

  • Location: Philadelphia

  • Hours: Full time position. This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the organization and point in the cycle, and is likely to require evening and weekend
